Each of the following is offered as a single
GCSE option
French, German, Spanish
Students continue with the language(s) they
studied at KS3. It is not possible to start
a new language in Year 10. Students cover
the syllabus in one or two languages in two
years, giving them the opportunity to widen
their vocabulary and develop their
grammatical knowledge.
Progression
Success in languages at GCSE allows students
to progress on to Sixth Form AS and A2
courses at Northallerton College. Many of
our students go on to study languages in
higher education.
Language ‘A’ levels combine very well with
many other subjects (e.g. Business,
Geography, Law, English and History, as well
as the Sciences) and is highly regarded by
universities and employers.
