Follow the simple steps below to
download and install remote access to
Northallerton College from your home
computer.
Click on this
icon
to open the folder.

Click on Use Evaluation
Version.

Click on the VPN_NC.exe file to start
application

Choose 'Yes' to
install the software or 'No' to abort.

In this first
version, the licence agreement does not
display correctly but the licence file is
shown
in the background. By clicking ‘Yes’, you are agreeing to the terms
of the licence file:

You now
have the choice of whom to install the
program for. We strongly recommend that you
leave
it as the default of ‘My use only’. Remember to put a tick in the
‘Add a shortcut to the desktop’ if
you would like this functionality.

Input your
College ‘log on’ name in the ‘User name:’
field, your College password in that box and
note that the ‘Logon Domain’ needs to be entered as College (not
case sensitive). When you have
typed in your password, you will see that you may choose to save
the password.

You now
need to tell the computer how you should
connect to the internet so, click OK.
Click
‘Properties’ and you will be presented with
the following screen:

If you
have a ‘dial up’ connection, you need to put
in the relevant telephone number. If you
have an
‘always on’ connection such as ADSL, SDSL, Cable modem or any other
type of broadband
connection, move the ‘dot’ to the ‘I am already connected to the
Internet’ radio button:
The next
item to appear on the screen asks you about
telephone numbers and area codes. If you
are using any form of Broadband, choose to cancel this. If you are
using a ‘dial up’ connection,
please fill in the relevant boxes.
You can
now choose to click the ‘Connect button’ and
you will be connected to the College
network.
You will have
an icon on your desktop (if you chose to
create it) entitled “Shortcut to VPN to
Northallerton College”. In future, all you have to do to connect is
double-click that icon and choose
connect:

Once you
have connected, you will see an Icon in the
‘system tray’ (on the bottom right of your
screen):

This
indicates that you are now connected to the
network. The next stage is to connect to the
‘Terminal Services’ Server.

Copy the ‘Terminal Server Connection’ to
your desktop.
Double Click on
the Icon and you will be able to use the
College systems.
When
you have finished, choose to ‘log off’ from
the College system.
You then need
to:

Click the VPN icon in the system tray and choose
‘Disconnect’ in the window that appears.
