Our Specialisms

Technology College | Applied Learning

Technology College

As a Technology College we have developed as a centre of excellence, incorporating science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). We use new technologies throughout the college and within the local community to motivate and inspire learning.

A technological approach to learning underpins the whole curriculum, encouraging students to become enterprising and creative problem solvers who take risks with their learning, working independently and with others. We encourage the development of practical and technological skills along with the scientific understanding required to design and make products and systems.

Applied Learning

As an Applied Learning College we support the Work Related Curriculum as an integral part of a balanced whole school curriculum. The Work Related Curriculum is delivered in accordance with our Single Equality Scheme and other relevant policies.

The content and approach of Careers Information and Guidance, Work Experience and Enterprise Education is appropriate to the age and abilities of the students. Programmes of Study are delivered by tutors, specialist staff within the Applied Learning Faculty and the Careers Service (Igen), with additional input from visitors and placements.

The college is accredited with the Careers Education and Guidance Quality Mark, and the Work Experience Quality Mark. Close liaison is maintained with a large number of local employers who both provide Work Experience placements, opportunities for visits, and come into college to share their expertise with our students.
