Brief Outline
The AS course is assessed
through three modules. These cover
Foundation Chemistry, Chemistry in Action
and Investigative and Practical Skills.
The A2 course is assessed through three
further modules: Kinetics, Equilibria and
Organic Chemistry; Energetics, Redox and
Inorganic Chemistry and further
Investigative and Practical Skills. Each
module places a high emphasis on
calculations and practical work.
Methods of Teaching
A variety of teaching and learning styles
are used, including lectures, workshops and
supported assignments. Practical work is an
important component of the course and is
used to introduce new ideas, practise
techniques and reinforce previous learning.

What We Expect From You
Entry requirements are at least grades BB in
GCSE Science and grade B in English and
Maths.
Future Prospects
As well as
traditional progression to Science and
Medical degrees, A level Chemistry shows an
aptitude for hard work, problem-solving and
independent study, which are key skills for
all jobs and courses.
