Brief Outline
Textiles is a popular course combining well
with many other subjects including Arts,
Business Studies, ICT and History courses.
It includes many topics which were first
introduced at GCSE, but broadens and
develops students’ understanding to a much
greater depth. It also introduces a number
of new areas and the work at A2 level is
significantly more challenging than at AS
level. Units include one coursework project
and one written examination per year. The
course has been designed to provide a wide
understanding of both the theoretical and
practical aspects of Textiles Technology.
Methods of Teaching
The course will involve discussion,
independent study, practical work,
problem-solving, research
activities, outside speakers, visits,
videos/DVDs, and use of the Virtual Learning
Environment.
