Brief Outline
AS
and A2 Music Technology is available to
creative, enthusiastic students who have a
wide knowledge of popular music, but do not
necessarily play a traditional instrument or
want to follow a traditional A level Music
course. Students should be keen to perform,
and to write their own material.
The course is mainly practical, with some
written assessments including two logbooks
and a written exam. Students develop a wide
range of practical skills:
-
Sequencing MIDI
-
Sequencing audio
-
Recording live instruments
-
Producing CDs
-
Compose using music technology
Students will develop their understanding of
technical processes and principles.
Methods of Teaching
Students work individually on computers and
recording equipment, and in small groups for
tutorials/demonstrations. Sustained practice
in all techniques is essential.
