Brief Outline
This two year
course has been developed to recognise
candidates’ skills, knowledge and
understanding of ICT functions, environments
and operations. The content has been
designed to accredit student’s achievements
in a modern and practical way that is
relevant to the workplace. The qualification
aims to develop knowledge and understanding
of the ICT sector and develop skills in
contexts that are directly related to
employment situations. This is a two year
qualification; there is no opportunity to
gain an AS at the end of Year 12 therefore
full commitment to a two year programme is
essential.

Theory based lessons, practical lessons,
independent study, case studies, ICT
workshops, Virtual Learning Environment.
This course has a very strong emphasis on
coursework (100% of the assessment is
coursework based)

What We Expect From You
Enthusiasm
for the subject, willingness to work in
independent study time and seek answers to
problems through exploration. A commitment
to producing high quality coursework and to
using resources available to their fullest
potential. You will need to be prepared to
carry out background reading and research
and organise your time well. A grade C or
above at GCSE in ICT or Merit in the OCR
Nationals in ICT along with a high level of
motivation to work in this subject area is
desirable. A grade C or above in English and
Maths is desired.
Future Prospects
This course
will equip you to further your studies in
ICT/Computing or build a career in
software/multimedia design, web development
or working in an administrative role. The
skills and knowledge gained will provide a
sound basis for any role involving any use
of ICT.
