Brief Outline
This is a two year course with a range of
practical placements and supportive theory.
The course offers a range of additional
learning opportunities. The placements will
be in care and education settings for
children from birth to nineteen years.
Methods of Teaching
You will be expected to participate in
professional practice in a variety of
settings. The college will work closely with
workplace supervisors and will assess your
level of competence through observation and
written assessment. You will experience a
range of teaching and learning styles which
encourage you to become an independent
learner.
Assessment
Students will
study units within the core pathway for the
Children and Young People’s Workforce,
learning about child development and
professional practice. Further units of
study will comprise the early learning and
childcare selected pathway and will focus on
children’s learning, relationships
between families and professionals and an
inclusive approach to care and education.
Finally
students will select from optional units to
develop their own skills and interests in
this field of
learning.
